1/144 C-121C Constellation MAT

The Lockheed Super Constellation is still considered to be the most elegant transport aircraft of all time. In June 1955 the 1608th Air Transport Wing of the MATS in Charleston, South Carolina received the first of an order for 31 of the C-121C Constellation, the military version of the L.1049. Its task was to lift cargo and passengers for military units and humanitarian missions. Thus between 1956 and 1957 they provided the air bridge to Hungary and brought refugees from Eastern Europe to the USA. Another Constellation became famous as the VC-121E that served as private aircraft for the then American president Dwight D. Eisenhower.
