Mark Twain Hobby Pioneer Zephyrr Train Print Exceptionally detailed, accurately colored large poster print of the Burlington Pioneer Zephyr from the archives of Model Railroader magazine.
The original artwork was drawn by Steven G. Davis exclusively for Model Railroader magazine.
The art is 1:64 S scale on coated, semi-gloss, heaby 80 # cover stock paper. The actual print size is 15- 3/4" by 39 3/4".
The Burlington Zephyr was the first diesel-electric streamlined train in passenger service. It was also the first passenger train with an
exterior made entirely of stainless steel. Built by the Budd Company and equipped with a 660 HP, 8 cylinder, 2 cycle engine built by Winton Diesel Company.
In May 1934 the Zephyr made a record breaking trip from Chicago to Denver at an average speed of 77.6 miles per hour. This was the first of 9 trains
