The series is centred on two air ambulance crews and a helicopter. Emergency doctors, paramedics and pilots fly their missions risking life and limb - and must therefore demonstrate full emotional and professional competence. The "Medicopter" is a BK-117. This helicopter is made by the German/French firm Eurocopter in Donauwurth and is one of the most popular multi-purpose helicopters in the world.
